This Ardhagiri temple had been built long ago, and an idol of Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy had been installed. The special feature of this idol is that Sri Veeranjaneyaswamy’s face faces North.
Aradhagiri Anjaneya Swamy Temple is very ancient and has become one of the most important and popular pilgrimage centres in the Chittoor district’s Tirumala, Kalahasti and Kanipakam.
Ardhagiri temple is visited by about 1000 to 1500 devotees daily, increasing to 15,000 to 20,000 devotees on Poornami (full moon day) days.
In Ardhagiri, it is believed that the Sanjeevaraya Pushkarini (pond with holy water) does not dry up or spoil even if it is kept for a long time. If devotees drink this dirham (or holy water) from Sanjeevaraya Pushkarini, all kinds of diseases will be cured.
The tank is believed never to dry up, and the water has medicinal properties. Water stays fresh for a long time when stored. It is true. It’s been a month since I got water from the tank, and it’s still fresh.
Sometimes, when the water is kept in the container for 3 or 4 days, the most recent time is not stored. Drinking this water is also believed to cure all diseases.
It has been proven in psoriasis cases, early TB stages, asthma, cancer & joint pain. Experiences of cured patients were recorded, and they stand as testimony to it.
This water is the most potent medicine for our health. Water has an inexperienced colour and a sweet style. Since this water is produced from trees, it is an Ayurvedic medicine.
History
The name Ardhagiri is derived from an incident in the Treta Yuga when Lord Hanuman was transporting Mount Dronagiri (the mountain of herbs of life) at night, when Rama’s brother Bharat felt that the hill might be damaged. He immediately shot an arrow at Hanuman.
Due to its impact, half of the mountain fell at this place, hence the name Ardhagiri. In the local language, it means half a mountain (aradhra = half, giri = mountain). Since then, people have started worshipping Lord Hanuman in the name of Veera Anjaneya Swamy.
According to legend, when Lord Veeranjaneya Swami was carrying the Sanjeevani mountain, some rocks almost broke off and fell at the temple site. After that, the name of the region came to be Aragonda.
Today, there is a large tank where the water comes into contact with the divine sanjeevini medicinal plant. Even after thousands of years, water still has the extraordinary power to cure almost every disease.
This water has proved its ability to cure serious diseases like TB, Asthma, Cancer & Arthritis. This water has also been demonstrated to have rejuvenating potential against lethargy, fatigue, and other physical discomforts.
Architecture of Temple
The temple was built in Dravidian style. There are many sculptures of gods and goddesses on the temple’s walls. The main deity faces North.
The unique temple structure allows the sun’s rectangular rays to pass through the structure and fall only on the feet of Anjaneya Swamy.
As the day progresses, the sun’s rays hit every part of the head but finally disappear beyond the head area. The temple tank at Aragonda is known as the Sanjeevaraya Pushkarini tank.
