History of the Church:
Medak church is the largest cathedral in Telangana and a well-known Cathedral in South India. Charles Walker Posnett built the church. On 25th December 1924, he inaugurated the church. Around 300 acres of range for the church resides.
During his visit, Charles Walker Posnett once stayed in Medak. Nearly 200 Christians are praying for Jesus in slant houses. He noticed that and decided to build a church for these people, which he finally completed in 1924. He thanked god by gifting this church to those devotees. Nizam king once tried to reduce the size of the church after discovering that it would be more significant than Charminar.
Architecture:
The Gothic style inspired Medak Cathedral’s architecture. The church’s central tower is 175 feet high and can accommodate nearly 5000 people. The large, pointing stained glass window narrates the story of the Bible in the form of different colours seen only under sunlight. The church’s roof is soundproof and made of hollow sponge material.
