The Lake also has a wildlife sanctuary on its banks. The chirping of birds and the rejuvenating breeze and tranquillity make it a favourite spot for picnickers and nature enthusiasts.
A manufactured lake built by King Ganapatideva during the Kakatiya Empire in 1213 AD, it was made useful for agricultural land activities. Even today, an ancient creation has been seen performing its function of providing water for irrigation. About 3 lakh acres of land depend on its waters.
Adjacent to the Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1952 by the makers of the Lake, PaLake Lake offers a natural haven for wild animals amid low hills and a plateau with a safe climate. You can also spot many flora and fauna near the Lake.
Wildlife Sanctuary
The Lake is Located next to the Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary. The monastery covers an area of 839 sq km and is home to rare flora and fauna.
Some wild animals in Wildlife Sanctuary are leopards, wild boar, panthers, hyenas, sloth bears, chital, mountain gazelle, blackbuck, four-horned deer or chousinga and many others.
Reptiles like pythons, cobras, crocodiles, monitor lizards, etc., are also found in the sanctuary. A variety of migratory birds can also be seen from November to March. The wildlife sanctuary is home to various herbs, shrubs and climbers.
It consists mainly of deciduous trees like Emblica Officinalis, Bombax ceiba, Cordifolia, Cleistanthus collinus, Bridelia retusa, Dalbergia latifolia, Flacourtia indica, Cochlosperm religiosum, Garuga pinnata. A few evergreen species, such as Mallotus philipensis and Aegal marmelos, are also found.

The best time to see Pakhal Lake is from November to June. However, this Lake is Lakesant throughout the year. So please include it in your Warangal tour itinerary.
