Vijayawada temple, Kanaka Durga, is a Powerful Hindu temple in Vijayawada. The temple is on a hilltop on the banks of the Krishna river. Vijayawada temple timings are from 5 am to 9 pm. Goddess Durga is the main deity, and the temple is also called Durga temple.
Once there lived a Yaksha named “Keela.” This Keela performed penance for goddess Durga, and she appeared before him. The goddess asks him to make a wish.
Then he asks, “he wants a goddess to live in his heart forever.” The goddess grants him the boon. As the god, Indrudu worships goddess Durga on this hill. So the mountain is called Indrakeeladri, where Indra –Keela-aadhri.
Indra Keeladri combines three words: the god who worships goddess Durga, Keela-The yaksha, and Aadhri-The hill.
